Extra equipment? Due to the good spec there is little to add, but awnings may be left in with the van, or the addition of an AKS hitch stabilizer.

Abbey GTS Vogue 215 Interior

Jenkinson’s opinion: The Abbey is a superb tourer for two, the quality build is key but the interior design still looks so good. The seating remains supportive even eight years on. The furniture finish is bob on while roof locker storage is ample for most couples needs. The spec is good to with full blown heating, Omnivent roof extractor and Status TV aerial.

How to find a good one
The GTS Vogue 215 is a popular end washroomed tourer for two, due to its luxury spec and quality the used examples tend to be durable and the tough GRP sides see little damage. The chassis is Al-Ko and so is fully galvanized against rust, but do check that it’s been well maintained. When buying any tourer do try and get a service record with the van. The best place is a dealership and again ex-Abbey dealers are good places to look.

Don’t forget that due to the popularity there is a good choice generally on sale, so don’t rush into a purchase. Buying private is as always a gamble so do the normal checks. The GTS Vogues from 2002 had GRP sides now these are tough but the finish can look less good than conventional aluminium. Do check the furniture for gaps where they meet the side wall, these can be found to be warped if this is the case ask about the repair before you buy.

Caravan Insurance on this caravan should be around £160 - £210. Security: If it does not come with a wheel clamp or hitch lock budget around £100 for a good one of these.
