Jenkinson’s opinion: Lunars Clubman range is so popular amongst caravanners wanting luxury, spec yet all in a lightweight tourer. The 530/4 is a choice for couples as well as families. The spec includes mains exterior socket, BBQ point, mains lights, blown air, full oven the list does on. The interiors feel traditional and also well screwed together too. Loads of locker storage for a family while seating is comfortable and cushions stay supportive over years of normal use.

The kitchen offers a full oven and large fridge, also good worktop is a feature and storage too. Some owners may have left a micro-oven in too, but on later 04 models it was standard fit. The lighting levels are excellent with both mains and 12-volt spots and ceiling lamps.  Lunars knack of creating spacious vans means the 530 won’t ever feel cramped so we can also see why it’s popular with couple s as well as families. End washroom is very spacious and offers circular shower cubicle and electric flush swivel cassette loo. Wardrobe offers good storage and hanging space. Clubman’s are well worth seeking out if you want a quality high spec lightweight.

How to find a good one
Lunar dealerships are a brilliant place to find a used 530/4 – most Lunar owners like to keep with the brand so come back for new models. The 530/4 was a great tourer so they turn up in goodish numbers, check used dealerships forecourts to and private ads. Do look for damp in the rear end of the van, some problems have been reported with water getting under the rear molded panel and being detected after damage has been done.

Service record is not essential but will help knowing how the van has been looked after. This is where a private buy has the advantage of meeting the owner who can give you detailed info. Clubman’s do tend to be looked after by their owners so no real major worries in that department. Dedicated Lunar dealerships do though attract these used Clubman’s in.

Caravan Insurance on this caravan should be around £150 - £220. Security: If it does not come with a wheel clamp or hitch lock budget around £100 for a good one of these.
