Coachman Genius InteriorRear L shaped lounge has potential for kids play area, upholstery is good quality and doesn’t loose support quickly.

Jenkinson’s opinion: The Swift Charisma was launched to battle head on with Baileys Pageants. It did a good job too with the Charisma offering good layout choices and decent spec for the cash. Build quality was good to while interior décor still feels modern even on the earlier Charismas. Roof lockers offer plenty of storage while seat bases have beech slats and also access flaps.

The 540 is a gem of a family model, that rear L shaped lounge is ideal for a kids play area with plenty of floor space and locker storage too. Side kitchen comes with full oven and 77-litre fridge while front end is ideal for a family to lounge together. Side washroom isn’t over spacious but it does come with excellent storage. Charismas offer excellent value and are a worthy used buy from the Swift stable.

Coachman Genius KitchenCentral washroom has limited showering space yet good storage, check for cracked trays on older Charismas.

How to find a good one
Swift dealerships are always a good place to hunt out the Charisma, prices do stay firm unless the example you find has been neglected. Also try out the private sector and check out what’s on offer there to. Look out for faulty electrics, the chargers can be troublesome so keep an eye out on this especially if buying private – asked for a demo. If they are shot no 12 volt items will work if the battery is flat. Interiors do wear well but do look for excessive family use i.e. damaged worktops and also spilled drink stains in the carpet as non removable carpets were fitted for several seasons from 2001. Take care and you will find a Charisma that suits your needs and provide excellent service.

Another Ranger area to look at is the floor, make sure the one your after doesn’t feel as though you are walking on a sponge! Floors in earlier Rangers did prove problematic after 2002 they were strengthened but still keep an eye out for this repairable problem. Private deals can be good and you meet the owners too.
